Part of a series celebrating motherhood, this print is of “Laundry Day”, an original work created in 2021, that encapsulates a cherished memory circa 1980s Jamaica. It portrays my mother (Ruth), pregnant with my brother (Uriah), gracefully balancing me on her hip while carrying a load of laundry atop her head as we journey to the river to wash clothes—a 5+ miles trip each way. This is dedicated to all the women and girls who know this life, I celebrate you every day!
